| | With the emergence of an influenza pandemic, contingency planning is critical to protect employees' health and safety as well as minimizing the negative impact to businesses and the society. While companies may have already taken appropriate preventive measures to minimize the risk of potential employee exposure, illness, and the spread of H1N1 flu in the workplace, contingency measures need to be put in place to meet the challenges of possible mass infection and to ensure business continuity. In this seminar, our speakers will share with the audience on their pandemic planning including business continuity planning, workplace safety and health issues, administrative controls, human resources policies, employee assistance services etc, and what to do when a case of H1N1 is confirmed among employees.

Influenza A (H1N1) {Pandemic Preparedness}
豬流感「緊急」級別下 企業如何防範及抗疫 [2009/04/30]
Speaker: Dr Lo Wing-lok
Specialist in Infectious Disease
講 者 : 感染及傳染病專科醫生 勞永樂醫生
Tuesday 5 May 2009 1600-1730 HKGCC Theatre
On April 30, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has raised
its pandemic alert for Swine Influenza A (H1N1) to phase 5, one step short of a full
pandemic, based on assessment of all available information and following several expert
consultations.
All countries should now immediately activate their pandemic
preparedness plans, and Hong Kong has escalated our alert level to "serious"
accordingly in response to the outbreak of Swine Flu in humans in Mexico, the US and some
other overseas regions.
It is critical for the community to get fully equipped and be
competent to fight against the virus. Dr Lo Wing-lok, one of the most renowned specialists
in infectious disease, will share with us his expertise on ways of preparedness and the
proper reaction towards the virus for both the general public and corporations. At the
seminar, we will also invite other corporate leaders to share the insights into their
prevention plans and discuss how they could join hands with the government and business
community to overcome this big challenge together.
