The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, established since 1861, is the oldest and largest business organization in Hong Kong, with membership comprising of multinational companies, Chinese mainland companies, and Hong Kong companies. Today, HKGCC is a leading voice in promoting Hong Kong as an international business center in the heart of Asia. It acts as an international bridge, connecting Hong Kong business with the Chinese mainland and the rest of the world.

In government policy, we are the most influential Chamber in Hong Kong, thanks to our excellent network with politicians and government officials, and more importantly the top-rate policy advice we render to the government on various economic and business policies. In addition, the Chamber’s representatives sit on no fewer than forty government committees and public bodies.

As the premier business association, our mission is to promote, safeguard and represent the interests of the local business community. HKGCC is a self-funded, non-profit making organization, making it a truly independent body representing the diverse interests of the entire business community in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR).

No, HKGCC is a non-profit organization that is completely independent from government and self-finances itself independently.

HKGCC is open to persons who are carrying on a trade, profession or business in Hong Kong, Mainland China, or other parts of the world. The applicant should agree with the objectives and values of HKGCC and agree to comply with our Code of Ethics. We offer various classes of membership – Corporate, CO, Individual Associate, Mainland Associate, and Overseas Associate – to suit the individual requirements of each member.

Applications can be made by completing a membership application form and submitting it to HKGCC, together with a cheque payment or credit card number, a copy of your Business Registration and particulars of your business. Upon receipt of your completed application form and all required documents, the application will be submitted to the General Committee for approval. The General Committee meets regularly and it usually takes an average of one month to process a new application.

• Networking: HKGCC organizes a very broad range of business activities and social events. It acts as an international bridge, connecting Hong Kong business with the Chinese mainland and the rest of the world. On average, we organize over 400 activities every year. These include discussions with government leaders, roundtable luncheons, seminars, business missions, committee meetings, meeting incoming delegations, as well as cocktail evenings and other lifestyle programs.
• Lobbying: HKGCC is a leading voice in promoting Hong Kong as an international business center in the heart of Asia. In government policy, we are the most influential Chamber in Hong Kong, thanks to our excellent network with politicians and government officials, and more importantly the top-rate policy advice we render to the government on various economic and business policies. Also, our Legislative Council Representative, The Honourable Jeffrey Lam (SBS, JP), works on behalf of members in the Legislative Council.
• Information: We provide members with regular updates on business policies in Hong Kong, Mainland China and internationally, as well as arrange timely talks by industry experts and government officials to update members on new developments and opportunities. Members will also be able to access our business archives, which include multimedia presentations on seminars, training and talks. Members will also receive vital business information through our monthly magazine - The Bulletin.
• Exposure: Members will be listed on our online business directory for marketing and business matching purposes. Members have the opportunity to join our committees, advertise on our website and other communication platform at a special member discount rate.
